Jaguar revealed XJ Ultimate edition at Beijing Auto Show 2012
Jaguar has announced a new ultra-luxurious version of its XJ flagship sedan at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. The new British flagship XJ model is based on the long-wheelbase version and will be offered with new 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine producing 335hp. The new flagship can also be offered with old 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine, and its 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged diesel. All engines will be linked to eight-speed automatic transmissions. Despite the Land Rover boasting such an exorbitant price tag, it quickly sold out and clearly the success has allowed the British automaker to do the same with its XJ model. Among the car’s luxury features, there are two separate, fully-reclining seats in the rear along with aluminum folding tables and space to serve your favorite champagne.
For the Ultimate edition, the XJ’s rear seats have been ditched in favour of two tailor-made, powered seats split by a champagne chiller, while a solid aluminium table with piano black trim folds out electronically. Rear passengers also get two iPads with wireless keyboards and headphones, plus extra screens in the front seat headrests. Engineers have tweaked the rear suspension to improve comfort, too.
A 20-speaker surround sound system has been designed by British audio specialist Meridian specifically for the car, while machined aluminium, unique veneers and bespoke LED lighting are also available. Setting the newcomer apart outside are exclusive 20-spoke alloys, chrome air intakes and stainless steel oval exhausts.
Visually defining the XJ Ultimate Edition are custom bumpers, polished stainless steel oval exhaust tips, unique dual-surfaced 20-inch alloy wheels and subtle ‘Ultimate’ badging. LED daytime running lights now also feature on the XJ.
The first 20 Ultimate models made will be painted in Celestial Black, but customers can also order their car in Polaris White–and any color in between. Full personalization is available through Jaguar’s in-house Engineered To Order (ETO) group, the same group responsible for the high-performance XKR-S coupes and convertibles.
